Beta Zeta Leading Women: Aubrey Ruffin & Landry Baker

For the school year of 2024-2025, Beta Zeta has the honor of being the home of Student Government Association’s President and Vice President, Aubrey Ruffin and Landry Baker. With focuses on communication, involvement, and mental health, Aubrey and Landry were voted by Oklahoma State’s student body to be leaders of OSU’s campus.

Aubrey shared more about how she and Landry became close, and the role Theta played in that:

“We both ran home to Theta in 2021 and began to make lifelong friends with different girls in our PC. While we knew of each other freshman year, we were nowhere near as close as we are now. We did many shows together but the real start to our friendship was deciding to live together with two other girls, Catie Barrett and Ashley Lewellen. Our spring sophomore year decision changed us for the better and the walls of Pit on 3 hold late-night laughter, deep conversations, and the definition of what a true friend and sister is. Deciding to run for Student Body President and Vice President was a decision that while it felt daunting at times, we felt safe knowing that we had the support and encouragement from our sisters. Throughout recruitment, Theta makes it a point to say that we promote leading women. The secret to creating a leading woman is having the support and encouragement of other leading women. That is what we had during the moment we stepped into theta, all throughout our election and for the many years to come as we know that theta is for a lifetime.”

Additionally, Landry also shared about the honor she feels getting to represent Theta in her role as student body Vice President:

At Theta, we often say “You are bettie the Theta” meaning that our actions and character reflect the chapter as a whole. Having the opportunity to represent Theta on campus as the Student Body Vice President this year has been an immense honor and source of joy. Getting to show others that being a Theta means showing love to everyone we encounter and leading with integrity has been incredibly rewarding. This is something that wouldn’t have been possible without Theta. Not only did my relationships through Theta help prepare me to take on this leadership role, but it was also the women in the chapter who fully supported us along the way. Without their support and encouragement, Aubrey and I would not have had the confidence we need to truly become leading women. For Theta, I am forever grateful.

Theta Love and Mine,
Landry Baker
