“I just bought mine!”

“Me too!”

My Theta group chat is firing off one Saturday afternoon in early July. It’s been forever since all of our girlfriends have gotten together, and based on what I was reading, it appeared that Stillwater, where our friendships began, was bringing us back together again.

“A sleepover at 1323? Sign me up.” I thought to myself as I scrolled to Eventbrite and paid $50 for the ticket. I accepted the terms and conditions, and my place for the weekend was solidified. Shortly after, my mind couldn’t help but open the floodgates of all the good times from the two years of living in the red brick castle. From my first five girl, crying during room changes, seeing your friends off as a boy picked them up for a first date, music running through the halls as everyone is looking in each others closets before a night out, morning debriefs in the dining room over weekend food, or holing up in the TV room for Love Island marathons; everything about living at Theta was pure joy. My friends from other schools who didn’t live in a house like ours were shocked to hear that we crammed five girls into one room, but truth be told, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Pulling up to the stunning house feels like I never left; as we walk inside and claim our room, it warms my heart to see other groups of women gathering together to cherish the home once again. Our group is the youngest PC at the party, and we quickly start chatting with the other woman, introducing ourselves…in the living room, though, because it was HOT upstairs. They were not kidding about the AC. And was it just me, or did the hallways feel a little narrower than they used to be? I couldn’t believe we used to fill the hallways with items and bins of clothes during room changes.

As the evening progressed, we sat and chatted with other members in attendance, swapping stories from our time in the house.

Being in the house again not only filled our hearts with joy but also reminded us all of the special place that brought these amazing people into our lives. Although it was a little toasty in the house, it still had the same charm we all remember. That is until you walk into the basement and see the damage from the study room flooding. There is no question that the house needs some TLC.

After spending the weekend, there is no denying that 1323 needs some love if we want PCs for years to come to create the same memories we look back on with a smile. As I’m sure many of you have heard, there are some stunning plans to renovate the most beautiful house on campus. I know it sounds silly, but after knowing that my $50 spent that weekend will make a dent in the funding needed to make the new plans leave the blueprint, it made me smile knowing that I am helping ensure the Beta Zeta girls get the same living-in experience as us.

We found home at 1323 and were all changed for the good, so let’s ensure that the home Beta Zeta continues to leave the same mark on generations to come.
